Bookshelf
Here are my favourite books which have informed my journey into the field of metabolic health. Many of the authors have since published newer books but these lay the foundation for a great understanding.
The first two are less about physiology and more about understanding yourself so you feel ready to incorporate the sage advice from all the others into your life. Just writing this has immediately reminded me of several other great reads which I will add when I have a moment!
The Chimp Paradox by Prof Steve Peters
Provides a fantastic model for how our brains work: The chimp, the human and the computer all trying to get along together. If you self-sabotage and can't stick with good intentions this might provide an answer.

Ultra-Processed People by Dr Chris van Tulleken
Follows the rise of industrially created food products made for profit not nutrition and the impact its having on our health.

The 4 Pillar Plan by Dr Rangan Chatterjee
An introduction to balancing healthy habits of eating, sleeping, relaxing and moving with a deep dive into why they are so important.

Fork in The Road by Dr Jen Unwin
A great little book on food addiction. If you can't stop eating ultra-processed foods despite knowing they are doing you harm this book will show you how to regain control.

Why We Eat Too Much by Dr Andrew Jenkinson
Andrew Jenkinson discusses a lot of the research covered in the MSc Human Nutrition syllabus. If you want a technical explanation for how we get fat, here it is.

Fat Chance by Dr Robert Lustig
The hidden truth about sugar, obesity and disease.
