Welcome
David and I are excited to share our passion for real food and preventative healthcare with you. Knowing what and when to eat is important, but understanding our relationship with food and what motivates our habits (both good and bad) are key to long term health. We established Embrace Nutrition with the aim of combining both education and coaching in a single workplace wellbeing offering, to help individuals take control of their health and make confident, sustainable diet and lifestyle changes.
Employers are perfectly placed to promote preventative health through facilitating structured education and optimising the work environment to make healthy behaviours enjoyable and easy to sustain.
Please do get in touch to discuss how we can work with you.

About Us

Helen Gowers, Director
I am a registered dietitian and nutritionist and hold a level 3 health and wellbeing coach qualification. I am passionate about empowering people to maximise their health using diet and lifestyle.
I completed a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics in 1989, then pursued a career as an IT consultant before retraining as a Food Technology teacher in 2003. In 2018, I learnt of the ground breaking work of Professor Roy Taylor on reversing type 2 diabetes. I also heard how Dr David Unwin was supporting his patients to achieve remission of the disease using a real food, low carbohydrate approach. Excited by the potential for dietary interventions to tackle the country's epidemic of metabolic diseases, I enrolled on an MSc in Human Nutrition, initiating my return to the field.
I joined the charity Public Health Collaboration and as Director of The Lifestyle Club (TLC), I scaled this award winning health coaching service to help over 1,600 adults improve their type 2 diabetes. We won HSJ Silver Primary Care Project of the Year in 2024 and recently published our outcomes in BMJ Nutrition following a study with the University of Surrey.
Outside of work, I love walking and gardening and have recently becoming interested in watercolour and learning French.

David Sogan, Finance Director
I have a background in setting up and running charities and small businesses which help to improve disadvantaged people’s access to a wide range of basic services such as healthcare, education, energy and economic development. I’ve worked in some very diverse environments such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone as well as the UK.
I became interested in nutrition in 2020 after noticing the beginnings of metabolic dysfunction in myself. A waistline that was starting to expand as well as blood sugar and blood pressure levels creeping up despite doing a lot of exercise and eating what I thought was a healthy diet. Seeing what happened to my mother-in-law, who died in her mid-sixties of heart disease caused by complications from type 2 diabetes, made me even more determined.
I joined the Public Health Collaboration to train as a Level 3 health coach for The Lifestyle Club and manage their quality assurance programme. This has given me the opportunity to coach over 200 people to improve their blood sugar control and help many to put their diabetes into remission. I co-lead a project called the Real Food Rebellion which is teaching secondary school children to make healthier dietary choices. I am also completing a post graduate diploma in Integrated Functional Nutrition.
When I’m not learning about or sharing my knowledge of nutrition, you’ll find me down on the river following my other passion of rowing.

About Embrace Nutrition
We are both excited that Embrace Nutrition will bring metabolic health education to a much younger audience, empowering individuals to change their health trajectory before early signs and symptoms develop into full blown diseases.
Our Health Accelerator programme is designed to take participants on a journey of discovery, evaluating current health markers, learning how the body and minds work and developing a personalised action plan for health, for life.
